I'm a twenty-something living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I currently work full-time for Keane Canada Inc, under their User Experience group. My main areas of expertise are RIA and web design, front-end development, contextual research, interaction design and more recently mobile design. I have oodles of experience developing in Adobe Flex, HTML and CSS.
I attended NSCC for a two year "Information Technology - Internet Concentration" program where I learned the fundamentals of designing and developing for the web. I also had a few courses that touched on VB coding, Java coding, networking, and database design. I graduated with honors and the Highest Achievement award in 2003. I knew after taking this program that I wanted to continue on the web development path, with a more artistic edge.
When given the opportunity for in-house training from Keane in Adobe Flex I jumped at the chance. I started by learning Flex 1.5 and began working on a project for a major Fortune 500 company almost immediately after completing the training. Since then I have continued working on different RIA, desktop, and mobile projects for the same company. I am currently developing front-end components and prototypes with Flex 3 and Flex 4. I've had great experience working with this client, and have learned a great deal about positive client relations, the agile methodology, mobile design, and Adobe Flex.
I am currently experimenting with print design and really enjoying playing with Adobe InDesign. I have created several posters for Keane's social committee to advertise upcoming events around the office. Outside of Keane, I have been creating HTML web pages with CSS layouts, mostly for not-for-profit organizations. The most recent of those is a logo and website design for a local German Shepherd rescue group. I have also started creating custom websites, invitations and other stationary for weddings.
